Art Workshop: Torma Making

  • Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland (map)

Learn How to Make Authentic Tormas

Tormas are traditional food offerings (usually made of marzipan) that are offered to the Buddhas in various ritual practices and prayers such as empowerments, retreats and chanted prayers.  When we make these offerings we are requesting spiritual attainments, based on our love and compassion for all living beings.

Kelsang Gyaltsen, who has been involved in sacred art for many years and is skilled in making tormas, will lead this hands-on workshop, teaching this beautiful art. The workshop will be informal, practical and a lot of fun.  It is suitable for everyone, whether you are an experienced practitioner or a complete beginner.  So come join us as we learn about the various types of tormas and how to make them in a qualified manner according to the New Kadampa lineage. Everybody welcome!
