Gen Jampa Visits Baltimore Spring 2011
In late May, KMC-MD welcomed our National Spiritual Director, Gen Jampa, for a community talk and reception, followed the next day by a free public talk at UMBC. Around 175 people attended the talk — the biggest event in our Center’s history! The weather was beautiful allowing people to sit outside and enjoy the delicious vegetarian buffet. Most importantly the talk and meditation were superb! A big thank you to all the volunteers and our kind teacher Gen Jampa for coming to visit Baltimore.
Wyman Park Clean Up Summer 2010
Recently we been trying to pitch-in with the monthly park clean-ups that happen across the street from the center in Wyman Park. The park is a neighborhood resource valued by all. It provides a little bit of nature right in the city and is great for relaxing, evening strolls, and other recreational activities. You can visit the park’s website to learn about upcoming clean-ups.
Kitchen Renovation Summer 2010
Our summer fundraiser, Walk for Peace, was a great success! We raised almost $1900. Profits from this went to renovating our kitchen and dining room as well as to the International Temples Project. The first phase is now done and it is so very bright and sunny! The ceiling fan helps to beat the heat, the new dish washer makes clean-up much easier after big events – it’s a great joy to cook in! We send a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated and offered their time to help accomplish this project. Next is the dining room! …
Walk for Peace Summer 2010
Sunday, July 11, 2010 a was beautifully sunny and warm day, perfect for the center’s first annual Walk for Peace. The hike took us all through Oregon Ridge Park. We crossed some streams, went up a few hills, passed by two ponds and made our way back to the “base camp.” We ended the walk with a delicious picnic and meditation. (Sorry, no pics of the picnic. We were too busy eating!)
A warm “Thank You” to everyone who supported the event through walking, donating, and sending along prayers or good wishes. We reached our goal of $1500. We hope that you will join us next year! We’re sorry for the poor quality of picutres, cell phones do better at taking texts and calls!
